From time to time, civilians and law enforcement have been set to use pepper spray irresponsibly or excessively.
One thing to consider is a dog – surprisingly effective against burglars, who generally do not want to mess with the dog if they can avoid it. For this strategy will be more effective, establishing a ‘beware of the dog’ sign. Small dog that is not too great for this because in general they are not scary – something like a large German Shepherd is the best, not only because of size, but because they maintain strong instincts that cause them to be hostile to foreigners.
